Listicle Tag.

Hey you guys. I’m in another country for the holidays and the weather here is so beautiful.I’m going to do another tag tag today and I promise a book review will be up soon.

Thank you Aditi for tagging me. Definitely go check out her blog (Readers Rule) she’s so so close to a hundred.

The tag was created by Not So Modern Girl, so a little thank you to her too.

Let’s begin shall we.

What is the Listicle Tag:

Listicle means a piece of writing or other content presented wholly or partly in the form of a list.

In this case it’s a prompt for a particular top five related to books.

 Rules:

• Create your own listicle tag, using the prompt from the person who tagged you.

• Tag the creator of the post (not-so-modern-girl!) so that I can read all your brilliant posts and see how the joy of listicles is being spread.

• Nominate as many people as you want!

• Set those 5 people the subject/prompt of their listicle post!

Aditi’s prompt was the Top Five YA Deaths.

Spoilers

Death 1: Zoe Nightshade from Percy Jackson.

Not YA, sorry.

I fucking loved Zoe Nightshade okay. This was one of Rick’s deaths that I still remember, four years later. My baby was an immortal hunter of Artemis and she did not deserve the death that came to her. And the fact that this was one of the most beautiful two paragraphs the author had ever written does not make it okay. She morphed into a constellation after her death. So that Bob could say hello. *sobs*

Death 2: Sirius Black from Harry Potter.

Not YA I know but let me have this.

I don’t necessarily love the Harry Potter series but even I have to admit the writing was amazing. Especially in instances like this. I think Sirius Black’s death was one of the most beautiful deaths I’ve ever read about. Yes it was totally uncalled for and yes I cried all night but hey at least he was reunited with James.

Death 3: Nehemia from Throne of Glass.

I used to love the Throne of Glass series until my very good friend pointed out to me the various things wrong with it. Safe to say, I don’t really like it that much anymore.

Nehemia was one of my favourite characters in the series and her death was one of the nicer parts of the book because it was written quite well. The whole set up of the death was very nice but I do wish there had been more details about the way she’d been avenged.

Death 4: The Grisha Trilogy is one of the most over hyped books out there. I loved the first book, so much so that I was pretty fucking annoyed when the author decided to kill off the Darkling. The rest of the books were average, to say the least and the death of the Darkling just annoyed me further. Sometimes, books need deaths and sometimes they do not. The Grisha Trilogy did not. The worst part about the death is that it was written like a last minute class project. The only reason I’m even mentioning this is because the Darkling was a fantastic character and I think he deserves a memorial on my blog.

Death 5: Lastly, Bianca from Percy Jackson.

YA doesn’t have very well written deaths, sorry Aditi.

So many people disagree with me when I explain to them how Percy Jackson is not merely a middle grade novel but honestly deals with so much more. It deals with loss, abusive relationships and being stronger.

Bianca was so young and full of hope. All she was was a figurine, for her little brother. But instead she got the sweet kiss of death and a vengeful sibling. Her death was and still is one of my favourite paragraphs/page ever written.

These were in no particular order and I hope you enjoyed reading this.

My prompt is Top Five Character Quotes.
