Unpopular Opinions Book Tag.

Hello all. I haven’t done a book tag in quite some time so here’s the most generic one I could find.

1. A popular book or series you do not like.

Cinder by Marissa Meyer. I tried reading the first book since it came with shining reviews but I didn’t finish more than three chapters before giving up. It’s very unlikely for me to give up on a book because written word is the one thing I have utmost patience with.

2. A popular book or series that everyone seems to hate that you love. 

I can honestly say that I genuinely enjoyed the last book of The Fifth Wave trilogy. A lot of people, I’ve noticed, didn’t enjoy it quite as much as they did the first two. Yes it was slower and yes the plot was not as extreme as the first couple but I thought it was a nice way to end the whole thing and leave the audience with years of emotional trauma.

3. A love triangle where the main character ended up with the person you did NOT want them to end up with or an OTP that you hate. 

The Grisha Trilogy.

*spoilers*

I hate Mal with every part of my living breathing soul. Even though this series is pretty over hyped, I genuinely enjoyed the end right up until she got into a serious relationship with Mal and you know, lost her magic. 

 4. A book genre you hardly reach for.

Young adult dystopia. It’s not that I hate post apocalyptic worlds it’s just almost all books in this genre have a basic protagonist with basic qualities and a basic plot. It’s pretty dull to read.

5. A popular or beloved character you do not like.

1. Chaol Westfall

2. Prince Merik

3. The girl from Tfios

4. Aelin

5. Clary

6. Jace  

I mean I could go on but you get it.

6. A popular author you can’t seem to get into.

Rainbow Rowell. I don’t know why or what the matter is with me but for some reason i find her books very drab. I’ve read one or two, I think and they’ve been average at best which is funny since she writes about such relatable topics in such beautiful words.

7. A popular book trope you are tired of seeing.

Female protagonists who are special because they’re the main character and for no particular reason otherwise. Love triangles. Beautiful love interests with no personality whatsoever. Love at first sight. 

9. The saying goes ”the book is always better than the movie”, but which movie did you enjoy more than the book. 

It’s not a movie but I really do enjoy the Sherlock series more than I did the books. I know it’s not the same and it’s not even set in the same world but I’d much rather watch Sherlock than read Sherlock.

Also there’s no Benedict Cumberbatch in the books which is kind of a downside.
